Disgust with quality of digital image when downloaded into laptop prompted author
to toss said digital camera into the red stuff

Same
night. Nikon 70mm lens, f8. Shutter speed - anyone's guess. I manually
hold the
shutter open until I think it's had enough time to grab the image. In this case,
about 8 minutes.
This image was used on the cover of Australian Photography, January 2006
Closing the shutter before the ejecta actually touches the sides gives the following
effect -

Taken north west of the prior location. Note the blurring of the foreground
is due to earth tremor,
not shaky photographer.
