Digital camera image, on the western lip of Yasur volcano, Tanna Island, Vanuatu, approx 3.30am

Disgust with quality of digital image when downloaded into laptop prompted author
to toss said digital camera into the red stuff

Same night. Nikon 70mm lens, f8.  Shutter speed - anyone's guess. I manually hold the
shutter open until I think it's had enough time to grab the image. In this case, about  8 minutes.
This image was used on the cover of Australian Photography, January 2006
Closing the shutter before the ejecta actually touches the sides gives the following effect -

Taken north west of the prior location. Note the blurring of the foreground is due to earth tremor,
not shaky photographer.
