Click
to enlarge: The Avenue of the Dead from due south (left) to due north
(right). These are a compilation of 35mm images taken from the top of
the Pyramid of the Sun. The Citadel and Pyramid of the Feathered Serpent
is on the far left. It's not easy to make out, but look closely and
you'll see a bunch of flat slabs. Scrolling along the Avenue, The Pyramid
of the Moon is on the far right of the composite image. If you look
above the man's head on the far right, the vertical columns are the
Temple of the Jaguar. Around the centre front of the image is the parking
lot complete with tour bus. I know the whole things looks a bit bland,
mostly just the bases of pyramids, but much of the city has been buried
and the rest, burned. Essentially you are seeing the skeletal remains,
although this composite begins to show the scale - this is only the
north section of the city. The image used on the cover of Stargate SG-1:
City if the Gods is what one of the smaller pyramids would have looked
like with the wooden temple on the apex.

Pyramid
of the Sun - yes, it's a whole lot bigger. The steps at the
top are as wide as these ones at the bottom
